Housing Derivatives - ISDA Documentation For OTC Property Derivatives

Reuters reports on ISDA, The International Swaps and Derivatives Association, publishing the first Property Index Definitions.   The definitions are intended to standardize the derivatives contracts for the property market.  Most OTC derivatives contracts are supported by ISDA documentation.  Forms for total return swaps, forwards and options are available at www.isda.org.

Housing Derivatives - Sam Zell On Subprime

Housing Derivatives - Zillow As A Derivatives Tracker?

Jonathan Lansner of the OC Register posted a piece about the change in Zillow home price estimates for Orange County, CA.  Zillow produces index-like values in the form of median prices.  Could Zillow create an index that could effectively be traded?   (Well spotted, Jonathan!)

"... Unlike other price measures, Zillow's median encompasses the estimated value of all the homes in O.C., not just homes that were sold in a given period. This index of Zillow's Zestimates is now off 5.3% from the cyclical high of $687,479 hit in 2006's second quarter."

Housing Derivatives - March 07 Pending Home Sales

Bloomberg reports on the National Association of Realtors released today the Pending Home Sales index for March 2007.  The figure, which tracks the number of home resales under contract, contracted 4.9% month-on-month.
